Complimentary Webinar: The Common Rule Changes and How it WILL Affect Your Research

September 21, 2017 EDT

There have been a number of changes in 2017. Perhaps the largest change took place in "The Common Rule," a section of the Federal Code under the purview of the Department of Health and Human Services, and fifteen other Federal Departments and Agencies. This is the first revision to the Common Rule in more than twenty-five years. Most of these changes take effect in 2018 and have the ability to affect even the simplest of research - such as a retrospective chart review.

However, your ability to do research isn’t directed by the Common Rule. It is direct by how your institution has interpreted the revision and adapted to its requirements. Institutions and their associated Review Boards (IRBs) are, for the first time in decades, having to design new research procedures and protocols for appropriate oversight of human subjects research.

Join Kellie Bodeker on Thursday, September 21 at 2:00 pm ET, for this important webinar. She will provide basic information, in every day language, so that you can have discussions with your oversight authorities. Register for this complimentary webinar today, and ensure you have what you need to keep your research moving forward.

Topics to be discussed are:

  • how the revised Common Rule impacts ‘retrospective’ (waived consent) research
  • using archived tissue specimens under the revised Common Rule
  • the single-IRB requirement and reliance agreements
  • clinicaltrials.gov requirements for investigator-initiated studies
