SNMMI Statement on Israel and Gaza

The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) strongly condemns the recent terrorism in Israel and war in Gaza. The death, injury, and capture of innocent men, women, and children and the suffering of populations is a horrifying contrast to our work to save lives and improve patient care.
SNMMI’s mission is to improve human health by advancing nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and radionuclide therapy. The SNMMI leadership expresses grave concerns about the rapidly deteriorating situation in Gaza and Israel, and the threat of increasing hostilities and loss of human life.
SNMMI strongly supports a quick and peaceful resolution of this conflict, release of the hostages and humanitarian relief to those affected. Many more lives will be lost in the coming days and weeks unless a peaceful resolution of this conflict is rapidly secured.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by this crisis. Our hope is for a future of peace.
