The Saul Hertz, MD, Award recognizes the lifetime achievement of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to radionuclide therapy.

It is named in honor of Dr. Saul Hertz, a pioneer in the field, who administered a cyclotron-produced I-130 - I-131 mixture as a therapeutic dose to the first human patient with Graves' hyperthyroidism (Graves' Disease) at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1941.

Nominations must be from a member of the Therapy Center of Excellence, and the package must include

  • a letter written on behalf of the nominee stating the individual's qualifications
  • the curriculum vitae of the nominee

2018 Ursula Mary-Kocemba Slosky, PhD, Professional Relations Fellowship

Opening Date for Applications: August 8, 2017

Closing Date: November 8, 2017

Amount: $5,000

Supported by: Education and Research Foundation for Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (ERF)

This professional relations fellowship provides young professionals in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging with direct, personal exposure to professional/public relations activities of SNMMI as they relate to other medical societies and related professional organizations. Physicians, scientists or technologists who have completed at least 3 years, but not more than 10 years, of post-training experience in the field are eligible.

Applicants must be a member of SNMMI or SNMMI-TS, and the application packet must include

  • a curriculum vitae
  • a written statement outlining the applicant's interest in professional relations and association leadership

In addition, applicants must be in the continental U.S., Canada or Mexico. Two letters of recommendation in support of the applicant may be submitted, but are not required.

Candidates selected will be required to travel to the SNMMI office in Reston, Virginia, in mid-September 2018.
