Does USP <797> apply to radiopharmaceuticals?
In general, USP applies to all CSPs including sterile radiopharmaceuticals.
The production of radiopharmaceuticals for positron emission tomography (PET) is governed by USP "Radiopharmaceuticals for Positron Emission Tomography—Compounding." Upon the release of the finished PET radiopharmaceutical from the production facility, however, further handling, manipulation, or use of the PET radiopharmaceutical falls under USP .
