Course Description 
Periprosthetic joint infection is a serious condition that may lead to repeated surgical interventions, prolonged hospitalization, high costs, and morbidity. Effective diagnosis can help ensure proper treatment. This session will examine various imaging techniques and their role in patient diagnosis and management.

Course Objectives

  • Discuss the various imaging techniques used to diagnose periprosthetic joint infection           
  • List the performance, indications for and interpretation of molecular imaging studies, including SPECT/CT, used for diagnosing periprosthetic joint infection           
  • Examine the role of proper diagnosis in the management of patients with periprosthetic joint infection
