Committee on Early Career Professionals

The SNMMI Early Career Professionals Committee shall consist of individuals who are within the first 7 years after residency or training completion, post-doctoral training or nuclear pharmacy training. 

The purpose of the SNMMI Early Career Professionals Committee to support early career professionals to establish successful career trajectories in the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging by providing tools and opportunities for engagement and growth. 

Specifically, the committee will work on the following domains under the oversight by the leadership:

  • To strategize SNMMI’s support for early career professionals.
  • To better understand the needs of the early career professional member.
  • To suggest venues in which the early career professional can discuss, plan, and develop programming, networking, and/or opportunities.
  • To provide educational materials and efforts that are pertinent to the early career professional member.

Scope of Work:

To strategize SNMMI’s support for early career professionals.

  • Create strategy to attract early career professionals to the SNMMI
  • Strategize collaboration with radiology societies on early career development
  • Strategize mentor-mentee needs in the SNMMI
  • Strategize student recruitment into the field and SNMMI

To better understand the needs of the early career professional member.

  • Identify multiple successful career paths for early professional members
  • Identify support needed for each career path
  • Identify SNMMI resources that can support early career advancement

To suggest venues in which the early career professional can discuss, plan, and develop programming, networking, and/or opportunities.

  • Provide award recognitions for early career professionals
  • Help nominate early career professional members to other SNMMI Committees
  • Plan the medical student program during the annual meeting.
  • Support SNMMI resident / trainee organizations
  • Increase involvement with liaison organizations such as the AMA

To provide educational materials and efforts that are pertinent to the early career professional member.

  • Suggest lecture topics that are pertinent to early career professionals (how to get grants, write papers, how to be an educator, etc) for the annual meeting planning
  • Serve as junior mentors to resident and medical students
  • Work with staff to expand and promote the SNMMI Mentor Match program
  • Assist in the development of the Future Leaders Academy
