SNMMI's Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation is an organizational component within the SNMMI that is dedicated to all aspects of molecular imaging in the detection and management of disease.

Focusing on the Future of Molecular Imaging

SNMMI's Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation is an organizational component within the SNMMI that is dedicated to all aspects of molecular imaging in the detection and management of disease. The primary focal areas of the Center are educational programs, professional and intersociety networking, and serving as a resource for development and implementation of SNMMI policy in this specialized area. The center is currently facilitating initiatives to bring molecular imaging discoveries from the lab to the patient and to advance "personalized" medicine. 

Vision:  

Molecular imaging and molecularly targeted therapy will be an integral part of the medical standard of care by providing specific information that will be used for diagnosis and to guide therapeutic decisions that improve health and well-being.

Mission:

To engage the molecular imaging community and leverage the SNMMI infrastructure to advance the adoption of emerging molecular imaging technologies and probes in preclinical and clinical applications.

Goals and Objectives

  • Ensure Nuclear Medicine Residency education contains sufficient MI content to make residents aware of and prepared for future molecular imaging clinical applications.
  • Develop educational resources for a “translational researcher”.  CMIIT will provide researchers with needed education and training on the “nuts and bolts” of translating and transitioning an agent or technique from pre-clinical research into the clinical practice (tracer development, equipment, funding).
  • Develop curriculum guidelines and resources for a molecular imaging scientist.
  • Public policies and regulations should facilitate the approval and adoption of new MI technologies.
  • Increase knowledge among members of the scientific community involved in biomedical research about the current value and future promise of molecular imaging, help cross fertilization to other disciplines, and make them aware of the power of molecular imaging and help researchers there get their advances and discoveries to clinic using in vivo imaging.
  • Diversify CMIIT’s membership.  CMIIT will represent a molecular imaging community that includes diversity in work role, modality and provide the appropriate resources for this diverse membership. 
  • Develop funding mechanisms for CMIIT projects.
  • Highlight and explore emerging technologies (such as nanoparticles) that may be novel, experimental, and possibly controversial.

Membership in the Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation is limited to SNMMI Members. Nonmembers may join the Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation (CMIIT) as part of the sign-up process for SNMMI.

SNMMI Members
Membership in the Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation is just $15 for current SNMMI members. SNMMI members may join by submitting the form below, by updating their membership online, or by sending an email to MemberInfo@snmmi.org.

In-Training

Reduced National (annually) + Chapter Dues

In-Training (Resident/Technologist Student/Scientist In-Training/Scientific Lab Professional In-Training) members must present adequate documentation that they are in-training and qualify for a category of membership other than Affiliate. In-training members may not vote or hold elective office.

  • Residents will receive a FREE trial membership for their term of residency.
  • Technologists Students will receive a FREE two-year trial membership, with proof of program from the program director.
  • Scientists-in-Training will receive a FREE membership, for up to three years, with proof of post doctorial training from an advisor.
  • Scientific Lab Professionals will receive a FREE two-year trial membership, with proof of program from the program director.

Joining as an In-training member cannot be done online. Please complete the downloadable membership application below, include any required documents, and mail to SNMMI to instate your membership.
