SNMMI Responds to U.S. Travel Restrictions

February 3, 2017

Dear SNMMI Members,

On behalf of everyone at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), I want you to know that we are greatly concerned by President Trump’s Executive Order restricting entry to the United States for individuals from certain countries. SNMMI is an international organization, and our work is dependent on mutual respect, trust and collaboration across borders. Every member is valued, irrespective of their race, gender, religion or nationality.

As we plan for SNMMI’s Annual Meeting in Denver in June, we realize that this Executive Order may affect the ability of some members to attend the meeting. We appreciate the letters of concern that we have already received and ask that members affected by the restrictions contact us, so that we can assist where possible.

Many professional societies here in the United States, including SNMMI, are asking that this Executive Order be rescinded. Please see SNMMI’s letter to the President, which has been shared with Congressional leaders.

We will keep you updated on SNMMI’s advocacy on behalf of all members and plans for the Annual Meeting.

Sincerely,

Sally Schwarz, MS, RPh, BCNP, FAPhA
President, SNMMI
