Bailes, MD—a recognized leader in the field of neurosurgery and the impact of brain injury on brain function—will make a special announcement regarding the SAFTIE (Scanning to Assess for Traumatic Injury and Encephalopathy) Study during this year's Annual Meeting Opening Plenary Session and Henry N. Wagner, Jr., MD Lectureship.
Dr. Bailes has been instrumental in the understanding of the clinical evidence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a progressive degenerative disease found in individuals who have been subjected to multiple concussions and other forms of head injury. Dr. Bailes was featured in the film "Concussion," portrayed by Alec Baldwin.
